Interim Report 2007 - now published
Thursday, 03 May 2007

In the Foreword to our Interim Report 2007, just published, Angela Eagle MP (vice-chair of the Parliamentary Labour Party and NEC member) wrote,

"Labour has to renew its financial, organisation and political vigour to secure a fourth term in Government. The loss of four million votes and half our membership since 1997 sounds the warning bells clearly enough. Political culture is changing and we must respond. The era of Labour as an over centralised 'command party' which replaced the chaos of the 1980s with a winning formula, has now become counterproductive. It has bred cynicism and stifled activism. The urgent question is: What should replace it?"

Labour chair to be scrapped - Tribune
Written by Peter Kenyon on 2007-05-18 13:57:53
According to a new report in Tribune (18 May) the post of appointed Labour Party Chair is set to be abolished under a Gordon Brown leadership. (p5)

How many other LabOUR Commission recommendations is the new Leader likely to adopt?

unions

Unions are handy when you need the money, but seem to get in the way at other times, I have been asking my Union to allow my political levy to go to charity, they are looking into it, other members feel the same.

36 years in Labour and then I left, I would feel more of a party member under the Tories then under a Labour government.
